Introduction to Barringer Sasser Attorneys

Brent earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with Highest Honors in 1981 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Kenan-Flagler Business School, and his Juris Doctor degree in 1984 from the UNC School of Law. He served as a law clerk to Senior United States District Court Judge Eugene A. Gordon (Middle District of North Carolina) in 1984 & 1985 before founding the original Barringer Law Firm in Cary in 1986. Over his 31 years of private practice representing small business leaders, entrepreneurs and investors, Brent has extensive experience in many varied business, corporate and commercial transactional projects ranging in size from $100,000 to over $100 Million. Since the early 1990s, most of these transactions focus in commercial real estate and the assemblage of property for residential development.

Brent has unusual knowledge and experience in business and real estate finance, and corporate governance, due to his service since 1997 as a founding Director of Crescent Financial Corporation and Crescent State Bank in Cary until its merger with VantageSouth Bank in 2011. Brent then continued to serve on the VantageSouth Board until May, 2013. Most recently, in June, 2014, Brent joined the Board of Paragon Bank based in Raleigh.

He also has extensive public sector experience exemplified by his nine years of service on the University of North Carolina System Board of Governors from 2003-2012, his Chairmanship of the Cary Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors in 1995-1996, and his service as Cary’s representative on the Wake County Economic Development Commission and as a Board member of the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency. Finally, almost continuously since 1995, Mr. Barringer has served on the Centennial Authority of the PNC Arena, and has served as Vice Chair of that Authority since 2012.
